I recently spoke at the SAP Financials 2011 conference in Las Vegas and managed to attend many of the sessions myself.Beyond the conference, my wife and I managed to see some of the sights of Vegas. We discovered the Fine Ninth Irishman, an authentic pub featuring traditional Irish fair, drink and entertainment.I also managed to pull a few slots but I have decided to stick to my day job.
The conference sessions covered many financial topics, including financial reporting, financial consolidations, period-end closings, IFRS, and XBRL. One of the more popular sessions was titled “10 essential methods, reporting techniques, and tools no SAP finance team should be without”.It provided reminders to me of the many SAP tools available that are often unknown or underutilized.
Another interesting session was presented by Mr James Fisher of SAP, titled “A comprehensive guide and roadmap for SAP BusinessObjects enterprise performance management (EPM) solutions”. This session offered a guide to SAP’s EPM solutions, including Strategy Management, Planning & Consolidation, Financial Consolidation, and Profitability & Cost Management, along with the EPM solutions roadmap for 2011 and beyond including SAP’s support strategy for strategic enterprise management (SEM) functionality for business consolidation.
